July 29, 2014 is a Regular Non-Working Holiday for Eid’l Fitr

Malcanang Palace officially declares July 29, 2014 (Tuesday) as a regular non-working holiday all over the Philippines in celebration of the annual Muslim festival  Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadan. The official declaration can be read at official government portal  www.gov.ph . Those who will be required to work at that date shall receive additional compensation based on the existing Labor rules set by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Is July 9, 2013 (Start of Ramadan) Holiday? No

I've heard people asking if July 9, 2013 is a holiday because it is the beginning of Ramadan, the month of fasting in the Islamic Calendar. The answer is NO. Instead, the Philippines is celebrating the end of Ramadan through the Islamic festival called Eid'l Fitr. This year, it was scheduled to be celebrated in the country this August 9. That date is a special non-working holiday nationwide.

Malacanang Declares August 20 and 21, 2012 (Monday and Tuesday) as Holidays

Aquino III (2010-present) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) President Benigno Aquino III declares August 20, 2012 as a regular national non-working holiday in Celebration of the Muslim festival  Eid’l Fitr.  The president made the declaration via  Proclamation No. 455 series of 2012. This would be a good news for employees because on the next day, August 21, 2012 (Tuesday) the country will celebrate Ninoy Aquino Day as previously declared via  Proclamation 295 . This weekend will be a long weekend with the two holidays being Monday and Tuesday.
