SONA 2013: Malacanang Suspends Elementary and High School Classes in Quezon City

All classes from Elementary to High School in Quezon City is suspended for tomorrow, Monday, July 22, 2013. This is a precautionary measure as militant groups are expected to hold protest rallies near the Congress during the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno Aquino III which will be delivered tomorrow as well.

GDP of the Philippines Grows 7.1% in the Third Quarter

Beating expectations of both local and international economists, the Philippine economy had grown 7.1% in the third quarter of this year according to the report of National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB). The stunning growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country places the Philippines on top of ASEAN countries, and second to China in Asia (China GDP growth is 7.7%). Is Monday, July 23, 2012 (PNoy's Third SONA) a Holiday?

Noynoy Aquino (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Well, I guess many of us is asking whether Malacanang will declare Monday, July 23, 2012 as a national holiday because of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's third State of the Nation Address (SONA). Well, the answer is "probably not". Based on previous two SONA's (2010 nad 2011), Malacanang decided to make the SONA day, a regular working day to everyone. There is a reason to believe that it would be the same this year. Also, as many of us must have already noticed, Aquino's administration is discrete with holidays. That is why, only in certain cases that he declares new holdays aside from those whom he already pre-programmed before the year begins. Palace Declares November 7, 2011 (Monday) as Regular Non-working Holiday

                                 Image via Wikipedia The MalacaƱang Palace via Procalamation No. . 276 declares November 7, 2011 (Monday) as a regular non-working holiday throughout the Philippines. This is for the observance of a Muslim event EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE). Eidul Adha is one of the two greatest Muslim feast celebrated annually. Palace Declares August 29 and 30, 2011 as Non-Working Holidays

Image by thepocnews via Flickr The Macanang Palace declared yesterday tha August 29 and 30 will be non-working holidays in celebration of the National Heroes Day ( August 29 ) and  Eid'l Fitr  or End of Ramadan ( August 30 ). This is in line with  Proclamation No. 84 issued by President Benigno "NoyNoy" Aquino III scheduling all holidays for this year 2011. This means a long weekend on the last week of August 2011 . However, for those who will be required to work during those dates should be compensated based on Labor Code requirements.

JUNE 20, 2011 (Monday) is A Non-Working Holiday (Rizal's 150th Birth Day) -Palace

                                      Image via Wikipedia President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III announces today that Monday, June 20, 2011 is a non-working holiday throughout the Philippines in celebration of the 150th birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal , Philippines' national hero. The declaration is via Proclamation No. 154 . Rizal Day is celebrated annually every December 30 , the date when Rizal was executed at Luneta. This is the first time that the country will celebrate Rizal's date of birth.
