Had Enough Holidays? August 21 and 26 are also Holidays!

Most will really love this month ! Not for the rainy season but because of the three national holidays being celebrated during the month of August. The first one, Eid'l Fitr will be celebrated this coming Friday . That holiday though is movable because it was based on Islamic lunar calendar. This year, it fell on August 9. Next year though, it would be around July 30. August 21, 2013 Holiday The second holiday is on August 21, also known as Ninoy Aquino Day. This is an annual observance of the death of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. Yes, he is the father of President Benigno "Pnoy" Aquino III. His assassination in 1983 is considered to be the trigger point that leads to 1986 EDSA Revolution. The revolution forced the end of the dictatorial regime of then President Ferdinand Marcos.  

Is August 9, 2013 Holiday (Eid'l Fitr) in the Philippines?

Update : Palace confirms August 9, 2013 (Friday) as a regular non-working holiday nationwide via  Proclamation 629 . Eid’l Fitr , a Muslim Festival marking the end of Ramadan will be celebrated on August 9 this year making the second weekend of August 2013 a long vacation for most employees. But Malacanang Palace is yet to confirm it . According to Proclamation No.459 ,  the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President on which day the holiday shall fall.

March 30, 2013 is a Non-working Holiday (Black Saturday)

For those who are not aware or just wants a clarification, March 30, 2013 is a special non-working holiday in the Philippines. This year, March 30 falls in the Catholic observance known as the Black Sabbath (Black Saturday). This has been declared as early as last year when President Aquino signed Proclamation No. 459 containing the schedule of holidays for the entire year 2013. For those who will be required to report on that day, the employer shall provide additional compensation based on the established rules of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Is February 25, 2013 A Holiday? Yes!

Is February 25, 2013 a Holiday? Answer: Yes. It was declared by Pres. Benigno Aquino III via Proclamation No. 459 in celebration of the 1986 EDSA Revolution. Is it a Non-working Holiday? Answer: No. Employees are required to work on that date. Does school have classes on that date? Answer: No. Schools will observe the celebration of the 1986 EDSA Revolution. Students are not required to go to school on that date. Is there an extra payment for employees who will report for work? Answer: No. This is a working holiday and there's no additional compensation to be given. It would be just like an ordinary working day. List of Philippine Holidays for Year 2013 - Proclamation 459

As early as last month, August, the Office of the President have already issued the list of holidays for next year, 2012. Proclamation No. 459 s. 2012 list all the regular, special non-working, special working (for schools only), and movable holidays. Unless otherwise deemed necessary to move any of these holidays, the dates were already fix. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) was given the charge to promulgate guidelines for this Proclamation.
