BPI Trade Launches Beta Test For Upcoming Upgrade

Are you an online stock trader? Investing in the Philippine Stock Exchange through online brokerage has been one of the most convenient way of buying and selling stocks. You can do it at home or at work as long as you are connected to the internet. Among the famous online brokers in the country are First Metro Securities of Metro Bank, Citisec Online and BPI Trade of BPI. And you may have known that among the three brokerages, BPI Trade is somewhat lacking in capabilities. First Metro Securities has been improving their service through the years providing interactive chats for "technical" traders. Recently they even launched a mobile app to serve their customers well. Citisec Online on the other hand boosts their customers satisfaction by providing useful research and recommendations. BPI Trade is not excelling even in just one of those. Even their interface looks boring. Now, BPI Trade seems to have awaken and took necessary steps to improve their service. They began sen

Man of Steel Trailer 2 is Out, and It Rocks!

I'm not a fan of Superman! Well, that statement is already outdated as soon as I heard the news that Christopher Nolan's next project is the reboot of the DC Comics superhero franchise. Why the change of opinion, you may ask. Well, it's purely Nolan. Let me explain a bit about it by recalling some of Nolan's works. Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy Well, I'm not a fan of Batman too until I saw the movie The Dark Knight. It's all because of the buzz and the favorable write-ups about the spectacular performance of the late Heath Ledger playing the role of the Joker. After watching the movie though, I was convinced then that Batman is a great superhero. Then, four years later comes The Dark Knight Rises. How can I describe it? Ummm...I guess the word "very good" is an understatement. It was one of the best superhero movies I have ever watched in my life. Well, if you may ask about the first movie, Batman Begins, well, yes, it was a great movie as we

J.CO Donuts Philippines - The New Craze in Town

I don't really understand the reason behind the Filipino craze about donuts but, yes, most of us love donuts. And speaking of that toroid cake, there's a new craze in the country, J.CO Donuts Philippines. The company J.CO Donuts & Coffee originated from Indonesia in 2005 and is the fastest growing donut chain in South East Asia. It entered the Philippine market just this year. J.CO Donuts Dethrones Krispy Kreme as Favorite "Pasalubong" Well, it didn't dethroned Krispy Kreme in sales or revenues but it dethroned it as one of the top "pasalubong" of people from Manila going to the provinces and other cities, at least for the meantime. It used to be the green-red-white box of Krispy Kreme Donuts that you usually see in the airports. Now, it's the mocha-orange box of J.CO donuts. Of course, time will come that the "hype" will subside just like what happened to Go Nuts Donuts and Krispy Kreme when they opened their respective stores in the c

In Fairness, Tiger-Seair Flight Was Good!

200 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Two weeks ago, I had a chance to fly to Manila and back. My flight is with Tiger Airways (or SEAir). But before my flight I had some biases against SEAir/Tiger. I used to think that the service would be worst because it's one the small airline companies that operate locally. Well, I was surprised to realize that my flight is good. Big Plane (Cebu - Manila) - Seair Airbus A320 Like I said earlier, I had some biases against Seair. I used to think that since they still have fewer customers. they will board me in a small propeller-type plane. I would admit that I don't like that type of plane. First, it flies at a lower altitude, which means more chances of turbulence. Second, it is relatively slow compared with Airbus A320 planes. I still remember when I flew Manila-Cebu route in a turbo-propeller Cebu Pacific aircraft., it took us about two hours of travel time. Well, I was surprised to see that the aircraft is an Airbus A320 plane even tho

Last Minute Booking? Try Tiger Airways-SEAir

200 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Planning is a good exercise in almost anything that we want to do. This is especially true with travel. But sometimes, no matter how good our plan is there are unforeseen situations that may come in our way. Some of the inconveniences or losses that we may experience is having to re-book or most of the time, cancel and buy another plane ticket. Did it happened to you already? Well, here's a tip that can help you at least reduce the cost of last-minute ticket purchases: book on Seair or Tiger Airways. Well, since Singapore based Tiger Airways become held 40% wonership of Seair, the low-cost airline has been in constant expansion. It currently flies from Manila to several major domestic destinations such as Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, and Puerto Princesa. But since the airline is still far from the level of Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express, the load factor for each flight is very low. I don't have the data but I can clearly see it from my last

Domestic Flight Tip: Arrive At Least 45 Minutes Before Your Fly Time

I've been flying domestic flights for about five years now since I started working in Cebu. Through the years, I have witnessed the growth of the number of travelers and the changes in policies of local airlines. For instance, before the second half of 2010, you can still bring your umbrellas with you inside the cabin. But, sometime on the on the second half of that year, things changed: you are now required to check-in your umbrellas. In my opinion, in some if not most, of the changes, people are not well informed. So they usually find themselves arguing with the ground personnel. But in most of my experience, the airline companies is less considerate when it comes to making exceptions. For example, because of the "umbrella" policy change, my friend was forced to leave hers at the airport just to make it to the plane. In some cases, people paid extra baggage just to check-in their umbrellas. But to be fair to the local airlines, they are now more considerate than bef

Entry to Personal Finance and Investments!

I've been studying for over four years now regarding investments and personal finance but it seems that I don't have the courage to take the first step. Well, it was my brother who told me about it. He started investing in 2006 starting with his company cooperative and then later, he entered into Mutual Funds. English: Phillippine stock market board (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) It Started with F.J. Colayco's Wealth Book My bother showed me a book, written by Francisco J Colayco entitled "Pera Mo Palaguin Mo (Wealth Within Your Reach). It was a best-seller book in personal finance. Actually, when my brother told me to read it, I was a little bit skeptical. You know, I'm not fond of reading books. But when I started reading the first few pages, I was amazed on how simple the words are. Actually, the book is written for OFWs according to the author. That event opened-up my mind to personal finance. But I was still jobless at that time. I am freshly out o

Mixed Reaction on Bourne Legacy: I'm Not Satisfied, Almost Disappointed

Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross in Bourne Legacy (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) A couple of days ago, I watched one of the most awaited movie in the country, the Bourne Legacy , the fourth installment of the Bourne movie series, all of which are based on Robert Ludlum;'s novel series bearing the same title. The film stars Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) playing the role of Aaron Cross, a state assassin, Rachel Weisz (Constant Gardener) as Dr. Martha Shearing, a medical scientist and Edward Norton as Eric Byer, the primary antagonist. Warning: Before Watching Bourne Legacy, Watch Bourne 1, 2 & 3 Well, as mentioned, this is the fourth movie in the series. And although it tells the story of a new character Aaron Cross (Jason Bourne is the lead character in the previous three Bourne movies), the story is strongly c

Online Rage Against Marian Tan Amid Floods in Metro Manila

Amid the continuous rain and flooding in Manila that caused several nearby dams to overflow and Marikina river reaching dangerous state, online rage out-poured against the person named "Marian Tan". As of the time of writing Marian Tan is trending in twitter. And as you read over the tweets, you can easily notice the anger of the twitter citizens. Who is Marian Tan? Well, based on her Facebook profile , she was a Freelance model.
