April 5 and 6, 2012 Are Regular Holidays (Non-working days)

MalacaƱang Palace (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) In celebration of the annual Lenten season (Holy Week), April 5 and 6, 2012 was declared by Malacanang Palace as non-working regular holidays. April 5 and 6 will be celebrated by Catholics as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday respectively. With regards to April 7, 2012 (Black Saturday), it is still unclear whether Malacanang will declare it as a special non-working holiday or not but in the past, that day is usually declared as so. 5.9 Earhquake Jolts Mindanao - March 16, 2012

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shakes Mindanao region at around 3:58 PM (Manila Time) according to the record of United States Geological Survey (USGS) . The tremor was felt as far as Visayas region. According to USGS the epicenter of the earthquake is located 25 km (15 miles) NNE of Surigao, Mindanao. View Larger Map The damages and casualties were still unknown as of press time.

Magnitude 5.3 Earthquake Struck Masbate Region

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the Masbate region early this morning. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports that the quake occurred at around 7:06 AM, Tuesday Morning, March 6, 2012. The epicenter is estimated to be 10 km (6 miles) ESE of Masbate. The epicenter of the Masbate  earthquake. Last month, a  magnitude 6.7 earthquake hits Negros region killing more than 50 persons and damaging worth millions of properties.
