This is an annual observance of the death of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. Yes, he is the father of President Benigno "Pnoy" Aquino III. His assassination in 1983 is considered to be the trigger point that leads to 1986 EDSA Revolution. The revolution forced the end of the dictatorial regime of then President Ferdinand Marcos.
