Update: Palace confirms August 9, 2013 (Friday) as a regular non-working holiday nationwide via Proclamation 629.
Eid’l Fitr, a Muslim Festival marking the end of Ramadan will be celebrated on August 9 this year making the second weekend of August 2013 a long vacation for most employees. But Malacanang Palace is yet to confirm it.
According to Proclamation No.459, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President on which day the holiday shall fall.
Those required to work on the dates mentioned above are entitled for additional compensation in accordance with the labor code. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regularly informs the public regarding salary rules during holidays.

August 6 Holiday in Cebu
For employees in Cebu, the second week of August will be doubly fun because August 6 (Tuesday) is a special non-working holiday in celebration of Cebu Province Foundation.Those required to work on the dates mentioned above are entitled for additional compensation in accordance with the labor code. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regularly informs the public regarding salary rules during holidays.
