Minimum Bus Fare in Metro Manila to Increase By 1 Peso On Tuesday

Metro Manila . Image via Wikipedia The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)  has approved today a fare increase on buses operating in Metro Manila. The reason for the fare hike is the continuous increase of fuel prices. Here's the detail of the bus fare hike : Ordinary Buses The minimum bus fare for the first 5KM is currently 9 PESOS and will increase to 10 PESOS. The rate for per succeeding kilometers which currently stand at 1.85 pesos will NOT change . Air-Conditioned Buses The minimum bus fare for the first 5KM is currently  11 PESOS and will increase to 12 PESOS. The rate for per succeeding kilometers which currently stand at 2.20 Pesos will  NOT change . The fare hike will be implemented starting on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Jeepney Fare Increase to Start Wednesday

Image via Wikipedia A few days after the implementation of the minimum fare increase for taxis in the country , the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has already approved the petition of transport groups to i ncrease jeepney fares by one peso . This provisional fare increase will take effect this coming Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Also, the  fare increase is effective nationwide. For Luzon jeepney passengers, the minimum fare will be 8 pesos (from 7 pesos) while Visayas and Mindanao jeepney drivers will charge 7.50 pesos fare (from 6.50 pesos). Minimum fare is effective in the first four kilometers but the rate for succeeding kilometers will not change. The reason for the fare increase is the continuous increase in fuel prices. The LTFRB from time to time will consider any needed adjustments based on oil prices.

Palace Approves LRT and MRT Fare Increase

Just a few days after the approval of Fare increase for Taxis , another fare hike is about to happen. Malacanang has finally approved the proposal to increase the fare for Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) . All these details will be discussed in the meeting of the LRTA Board on January 11 . With that, we can expect the implementation to be as early as second or third week of January 2011 . Also, because of the increase in Toll Fees in the South Luzon Express Way (SLEX), the South Luzon Bus Operators Association (SOLUBOA)   filed a petition to increase Bus fare by 0.50 pesos per kilometer.
