BPI Direct Account: As low as Zero maintaining balance!

Do you want have a savings account but don't want a high maintaining balance? Typically, banks require at least ~3000 pesos average daily balance (ADB) on a savings account. If the ADB falls below that, a monthly penalty amounting to around 150 pesos will be deducted from your balance. If you continue failing to meet the ADB, the penalty will soon deplete your account and eventually, it will be closed.

Well, here's a good news! Bank of the Philippine Islands' subsidiary BPI Direct is offering a savings account with a maintaining balance of as low as 0 pesos. Yes, you read it correctly.  The name of the account is BPinoy Savings. But here's a little condition. There must be at least one remittance transaction every three months.

If you can't meet that small requirement, there's another type of savings account: BPI Direct Express Teller Savings Account. The maintaining balance is 500 Pesos.

How to apply?

What makes BPI Direct really nice is that you can apply online! Also, you don't have to be in the Philippines to apply. BPI Direct accounts are specially made for workers that are far away from their families like OFWs. To apply, just log on to www.bpidirect.com or www.bpiexpressonline.com and choose BPI Direct.

Update: The online application facility is temporarily unavailable. Customers are advised to go to the nearest BPI or BPI Family Savings Bank branch..

Claiming the ATM Card

You can claim the card personally or through a representative.

For more details just log on to BPI's official website www.bpiexpressonline.com or www.bpidirect.com.

I am quite scared that BPI might still be charging fees under my name because of improper way of closing my account (if there is such thing).

Does this apply to BPI Direct too?

  34. Hi I have a very unique question...And Ive already search all over the net and no threads regarding this matter. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a BPI express start CC (secured credit card w/ 10k min. deposit). However, instead of having it as time-deposit, I wanted to have it for maxi-saver since 25k @ 1.25% interest + 1% bonus if no withdrawal w/n a month. So the question would be: How much will I get after a year if I can already redeem my money for a secured cc 1yr period? Am I correct with this?(25k 1.25%+1%=2.25%/month thus, 25K x 2.25% x 12mos. = 6,750? so I'll get P31,750 by then?) And second question is: Since the interest is credited monthly for maxi-saver account, will it add your 80% credit limit on your secured card account?example: 25K x 2.25%=P565.5 total 25,565.50 x 80%=P20,450 new credit line from P20K only the previous month? Please let me know if I'm correct... It's good to be sure...It seems that the BPI agent didnt get what I meant when I called.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It will be 25k x 2.25% = 562.50 earnings only. Because 2.25% is per annum or per year. NOT per month.

    1. not really sure what happened to your account but here's some information:
total balance means your total money. This is yours.
available balance are the money you can withdraw at the moment.

Why the difference? I'm not sure why. Based on past experience, the available balance will eventually become the same as the total balance. Did your father deposited a check from other banks? If he was, then it should take 3 banking days of clearing before it becomes part of your total balance.

      hope this helps.

  52. yes..you can withdraw ur money anytime but your account may close if yyou didn't maintain your minimum average daily balance(adb)...if you applied for a BPI direct account the adb should be at least 500 pesos. If you apply for a regular ATM savings, the adb is 3000. If your adb falls below the limit, they will deduct a penalty of 250 pesos per month until your balance turns 0. If that happens, your account will be closed.

    2. I'm not really sure but here's what I know. Every month that you fall below the ADB (average daily balance), you will have a penalty of 150 pesos until all funds were exhausted and then they will close your account. So maybe, the question is whether your account is still active or was already closed down.

    3. I think BPI express tellers ADB is 3000 pesos.

4 Steps to Replace Stolen or Lost Passbook

My passbook (inside my bag) was recently stolen inside a local grocery store, and I would like to share the steps I took to secure my account and get a new passbook.      By User:Aerous ", CC BY-SA 3.0 , Link The steps outlined here are for a BPI savings account, but generally, the procedure will be very similar to other banks in the Philippines. 1. Call the Bank to Secure Your Account The first and most crucial step you need to do immediately is to contact your bank by phone or personally report it to the branch where you opened the account. This action will ensure that funds will stay put. The bank will lock the account immediately. The big banks have 24/7 hotlines. For BPI, it's 889-100. You have to do this step ASAP after discovering the loss. 2. Go to the Branch to Ask for a Replacement of the Passbook It can mean a simple replacement of the lost passbook, but it can also mean closing the entire account and opening a new one for security purposes. 3. Resigning? SSS Will Deduct Your Loan Balance from Your Last Pay

The purpose of this article is to inform the public about this policy of the Social Security System (SSS), the government-owned insurance company for those employed in the private sector. I just learned about this a few months ago when my company announced a workforce reduction program. Among the sad discussions is about this policy of SSS regarding loans in cases of resignation or retrenchment. Section G-2 of the SSS Loan Terms and Conditions (at the back of the loan application form) explicitly says the following: "The employer shall deduct the total balance of the loan from any benefit/s due to the employee and shall remit the same in full to SSS, in case the member-borrower is separated voluntarily (e.g., retirement or resignation) or involuntarily (e.g., termination of employment or cessation of operations of the company)." In other words, y ou will be required to pay the rest of your loan (including the interest) when you change employer or employment statu

How Much Does a MRI Scan Costs in the Philippines?

My dad needs a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan for his prostate problem. I did a little research on how much does it cost to have one. Well, it depends on many factors, such as which body part is to be scanned. There's also this technique called "MRI with contrast," wherein the patient will be injected with a chemical to make the scan clearer. For your information, this technique of adding contrast is known as  Gadolinium Contrast Medium . It adds cost to the procedure, but with more clarity, the more you can trust the diagnosis. We got it in  i-Scan Healthcare Inc.  here in Quezon City. The cost is  13000 Pesos . Please take note that the amount was just for the scan, and a separate professional will read the result.
