PAL Midnight Sale is Now Monday Madness Promo

Update: Latest PAL and PAL Express Monday Madness can be viewed at this Airline Promos Page.

Remember the old PAL Midnight Sale? For those who don't, it is a promotion of Philippine Airlines wherein they offer cheap fares to certain destinations and travel dates every Sunday midnight until 6 in the morning. I still remember the first one back in 2011. PAL's website was inaccessible for almost three hours due to the flood of internet traffic to their servers. Many were irritated, even angered by the unprepared airline company. Slowly though, the succeeding midnight sales becomes more stable.

PAL midnight sale was supposedly meant to combat the aggressive promotions of Cebu Pacific. With their Zero Fare, Piso Fare and other low-cost fare offers, they have stolen a huge chunk of PAL's market share. I guess many are disappointed because PAL just can't match Cebu Pacific's offer. Eventually, the midnight sale loses its popularity.

The New Monday Madness Promo

And here we are now. PAL launched the promo entitled Monday Madness wherein they give cheap fares on selected flights. And things are a little different now. PAL and PAL Express (formely Airphil Express) is almost just one airline company so PAL Express is automatically included in the promo. And unlike before, Cebu Pacific doesn't offer the same low fares they offered back then. Even their Piso Fare costs more than 1000 Pesos roundtrip now, without baggage. There are even cases when the fare price offered by PAL in their promos is even lower than Cebu Pacific's considering that PAL has free 15 kg of baggage and a bigger leg-room.

So, with the new Monday Madness promo, it seems that PAL is back in the list of considerations when it comes to value flights.

How Much Does a MRI Scan Costs in the Philippines?

My dad recently needs to have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan for his prostate problem. So I made a little research on how much does it cost to have one. Well, turns out, it depends on many factors such as which part of the body is to be scanned. There's also this technique called "MRI with contrast" wherein the patient will be injected with a chemical to make the scan clearer. For your information this technique of adding contrast is know as Gadolinium Contrast Medium . It adds cost to the procedure but with more clarity, the more you can trust the diagnosis. MRI Machine KasugaHuang , CC BY-SA 3.0 , Link So, in my father's case, we had a Prostate MRI and I assume it's without contrast since he was never injected with the "contrast" chemicals. We got it in i-Scan Healthcare Inc here in Quezon City. The cost is 13000 Pesos . Please take not that the amount was just for the scan and the result will be read by a separate professional. SCAM: My First Scam Text This Year; 850000 Pesos from GMA Kapuso Foundation

It's a brand new year for everyone, including local scammers. And despite all the efforts by PLDT and Globe Telecom to curb text message scammers, from time to time, they still creep out and show up in our inboxes. And as hard to believe as the messages of winning some great amounts of money is the fact that there are still people who believe them. I personally know someone and that scam text message triggered events that turn her life upside down. So my point is, we still need to be careful regarding these scam messages. The danger is real! So without further ado, here's the scam message I received a few days ago. On Sunday, January 7, 2018 at exactly 3:33PM (PH time), I received this message from a certain Atty. 4 Steps to Replace Stolen or Lost Passbook

My passbook (inside my bag) was recently stolen inside a local grocery store and I would like to share the steps I took in order to secure my account and get a new passbook. The steps outlined here is for a BPI savings account but generally the procedure will be very similar to other banks in the Philippines. 1. Call the Bank to Secure Your Account The first and the most crucial step you need to immediately do is to contact your bank either through phone or personally reporting it to the branch where you opened the account. This will ensure that no funds will get out. The bank will lock the account immediately. The big banks have 24/7 hotlines. For BPI, it's 89-100. You have to do this step ASAP after discovering the lost. 2. Go to the Branch to Ask for Replacement of Passbook This can be a simple replacement of the lost passbook but it can also mean closing the entire account and opening a new one for security purposes.
